The New Prague Trojan adapted floor hockey team lost its semifinal game at the State Tournament Saturday, falling to eventual champion St. Cloud 12-1, but bounced back with a 9-1 win over Burnsville/Farmington/Lakeville to claim third place. The team, which includes players from New Prague, Tri-City United, Le Sueur-Henderson, Belle Plaine and Jordan schools, ended its season with a 13-1 record. The New Prague Trojan adapted floor hockey team won its opening game at the state tournament Friday, 18-2 over Anoka-Hennepin.
The Trojans led 8-0 after one period and were never threatened. Dylan Raaen had five goals and four assists for the Trojans.
New Prague will face defending state champion St. Cloud at noon Saturday at Bloomington Jefferson High School, and will play one more game later that afternoon, for either the championship or for third place. Burnsville/Farmington/Lakeville and South Washington County will play in the other semifinal game.

Le Sueur County Judge Mark Vandelist wants answers from the Le Sueur County Historical Society (LCHS) and has ordered its three-person board to appear in court to explain themselves.
The hearing is scheduled for Wednesday, March 27 at 1 p.m. It orders Jenifer Morsching, Donna Morsching and Evelyn Fierst to explain why they shouldn’t be held in contempt of court for their failure to abide by the court’s orders.

New Prague High School nominated four students for Minnesota State High School League awards during the current school year.
Triple "A" Award The Triple "A" Award, for Academics, Arts and Activities, is for seniors who have excelled in the classroom, the athletic field and in the fine arts.

Witty, fracture, fan, blockhead, illuminate, vapor, fragile and biblioklept were a few of the words that third grade students at Raven Stream Elementary School learned. On Thursday, Feb. 28, the 125 students at the school on the west side of New Prague showed off those words during a Vocabulary Parade in front of their parents and grandparents.

The New Prague Trojan adapted floor hockey team will compete in the Minnesota State High School League Adapted Floor Hockey Tournament, which will be held Friday and Saturday, March 15 and 16, at Bloomington Jefferson High School. The Trojan team, which includes players from New Prague, Tri-City United, Le Sueur-Henderson, Belle Plaine and Jordan schools, are 10-0 on the season, having defeated South Washington County in their regular season finale last week, 10-3, and then defeating Minnetonka/Wayzata in a state play-in game 12-2.

This weekend’s adapted floor hockey state tournament will bring an end to the winter sports season at New Prague High School.

The Elko New Market City Council is considering a policy change concerning a change in the waiver of fees along Xerxes Avenue. The proposed change grew out of a request for a waiver on a little more than $4,000 in connection fees from the Jodi and Jeff Lucast family at the council’s Thursday, Feb. 28, meeting.

The New Prague Area Figure Skating Club will present its Spring Skate Show this weekend with the theme “Under the Big Top.” Performances will feature “The Greatest Show on Ice” at 4 p.m. Saturday, March 16, and 1 p.m. Sunday, March 17, at the New Prague Ice Arena. Tickets are available at the door.

Rochester John Marshall’s Matthew Hurt scored 44 points as his team ended the season for the New Prague Trojans Monday, March 11, with a 69-56 win over the Trojans at the Mayo Civic Auditorium in Rochester.
Parker Johnson led the Trojans with 17 points.
New Prague trailed 31-23 at the half, but JM opened the second half with three straight baskets to open up a double-digit lead and New Prague never got closer than 10 the rest of the way.

Kalal, Elaine Mary, age 75 of Lakeville, passed away peacefully at her home March 9, 2019. Elaine was born on July 11, 1943 in Montgomery Township to Harold and Ludmilla (nee: Brezina) Kukacka. Elaine graduated from Montgomery High school and furthered her education in nursing school where she received her LPN. She married Francis KalaI on April 22, 1967 at Holy Redeemer Church in Montgomery. She then worked with Francis on the family farm. Elaine is preceded in death by her parents; brothers-in-law, John Marek and Arnost Pavek; sister-in-law, Janet Kukacka.

Julianne H. Carpentier, age 96, of  New Market, died peacefully with her family present on Saturday, March 9, 2019, at the Northfield Hospital.  Julianne was born on July 25, 1922 in Jordan, MN to Guido and Lena (Lambrecht) Wermerskirchen.  She graduated from St. John the Baptist Elementary School and Jordan High School.  She was employed as a records file clerk for Minneapolis Honeywell for 4 ½ years during WWII.  Following the war, she married the love of her life, Roger A. “Carp” Carpentier on November 26, 1945 at St.

The New Prague Trojan adapted floor hockey team defeated Wayzata/Minnetnoka 12-2 Thursday, March 7, to earn a spot in the State CI Adapted Floor Hockey Tournament March 15-16 at Bloomington Jefferson High School.
The team, which is 10-0 on the season, enters the tournament as the No. 2 seed from the south, and will face Anoka-Hennepin at 6:30 p.m. Friday. Win or lose, they play at least one more game on Saturday.
The team includes students from New Prague, Tri-City United, Le Sueur-Henderson, Belle Plaine and Jordan schools.

Attorneys for the plaintiffs in the lawsuit against the Le Sueur County Historical Society will hold an informational meeting to bring everyone up to speed on Thursday, March 14. It will be held in the 4-H building on the Le Sueur County Fairground at 4:30 p.m.
According to Kevin Wetherille, one of the attorneys from Jaspers, Moriarty & Wetherille, said the meeting will inform anyone interested in the status of their efforts in the LCHS case.

New Prague High School's boys basketball semifinal game against Rochester John Marshall scheduled for Saturday, March 9, has been postponed due to the pending snowstorm.
The game will now be played at 7 p.m. Monday, March 11, at the Mayo Civic Center Auditorium, which is adjacent to the Mayo Civic Center Arena, in Rochester.
The semifinal game between Lakeville North and Lakeville South has been moved to 7 p.m. Monday at Farmington High School.
The championship game remains scheduled for 8 p.m. Friday, March 15.
