Leonard E. Beatty, Jr passed away at his home in Montgomery, MN on October 26, 2020, at the age of 82. He was born in St. Paul, MN on December 1, 1937, to Leonard Sr. & Bessie (Fitch) Beatty. 
Leonard was a graduate of St. Rose of Lima Catholic School in Roseville, MN and of Cretin Derham Hall High School in St. Paul, MN
In February 1957, he married Kathryn Schwarzbauer at Sacred Heart Church in Wahkon, MN, and together they had six children. 

Emily Christine Burton
Emily passed away on October 27, 2020 at the age of 26.
She leaves behind her parents Curtis and Yvette, her sisters Jessica Peck (Ty), Sarah, and Allison, her grandparents, her nieces and nephew, many aunts and uncles, cousins, and friends.

Crews were breaking ground on the north and south side of the former Shopko Hometown Store along 10th Avenue SE in New Prague on Thursday, Oct. 29, where a new full service Hy-Vee grocery store will be built. New Prague High School will have a fall production, although it won’t be a musical, and it will fit the time period that people are living in now. The show is “10 Ways to Survive Life in a Quarantine” written by Don Zolidis in March of this year and is a mixture of short comedic plays.

It’s been a busy four months in the building of FaithPoint Lutheran Church’s new church at the southwest corner of Redwing Avenue and 270th Street, in rural New Prague. Mayme Lucille (Dejcmar) Jindra, 105 years 10 months and 6 days, passed away peacefully at her home in Montgomery on Monday, October 19, 2020.
Mayme was born on December 13, 1914, in Montgomery to Edward and Mary (Uhlir) Dejcmar. She graduated from Sherman High School in Montgomery in 1932.
Mayme was united in marriage to the love of her life, John James Jindra, on October 12, 1940, at St. John Lutheran Church in Montgomery. They lived on a farm off Highway 21 in Le Sueur County.

Deborah Ann Abrams (Moravec), age 55, of Lonsdale, MN passed away peacefully on October 22, 2020.
She was a loving wife, daughter, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. Her smile brought light and joy to a room. Daughter of Roman and Donna Moravec (Pexa).
She was born in New Prague on May 1, 1965. On May 24, 1986, she married Michael Abrams in Lonsdale, MN. During her life, she enjoyed spending time with family, painting, cooking, dancing, and listening to country music.

Unfortunately, a COVID situation will require us to cancel our 10/30 varsity game vs Owatonna and our 11/6 varsity game at Mayo.  Our JV and 9th grade teams are not affected and will continue to play during that time.
We thank our community for their continued support, as our players and staff really appreciate it during a difficult time.   We’ll rest up and prepare to complete the season successfully thereafter.

Lauryn Charlotte Freundl, 13, passed away October 18, 2020. A celebration of life will be postponed until Saturday, April 17, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. at Lutheran Church of Hope in West Des Moines, IA.
Lauryn was born April 17, 2007 in Des Moines, IA to Kirt and Jescica Freundl.

The news the New Prague City Council received at its Monday, Oct. 19, meeting was certainly no treat as they were told the Minnesota Department of Transportation (MnDOT) was suspending sidewalk work along the west end of Main Street for the rest of this year due to the cold temperatures. The forecast has temperatures in the 30s with snow and the long range forecast is not much better.
