Merlyn Swanson

Merlyn Swanson

In retirement, Merle and his beloved wife Donna enjoyed their home in the countryside of southern Minnesota. Merle embraced the joys of rural life, tending to apple trees, caring for goats and various fowl, and maintaining his lawn. He also had a passion for travel and adventure, often embarking on interstate trips on his Goldwing motorcycle with his brother Ernest and his sons. A lifelong lover of dogs, Merle’s bond with his canine companions brought him great joy. He also cherished quiet moments spent reading each day.

Merle is preceded in death by his parents, Paul and Lottie Swanson. He is survived by his devoted wife Donna; his sons Matt and John Swanson; and his grandchildren Axel, Winnie, Emmett, Finnley, and Britta.

Merle will be remembered as a loving and patient man with a wonderful sense of humor and a deep understanding of people. His presence will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

A Celebration of Life service will be held at FaithPoint Church, 1051 270th St. W in New Prague, Minnesota, at 3 p.m. on Sunday, February 16.  A gathering time will follow the service at the church.  Bars, coffee, lemonade, and water will be served.
