Two other teams will advance Wednesday, Two teams have advanced to Class C State Baseball Tourney

Montgomery and St. Patrick have punched their tickets to the Class C State Amateur Baseball Tournament after winning their first two games in the Region 3C Playoffs last weekend.

Montgomery knocked off Webster, 4-1, Friday, Aug. 5 and edged Union Hill, 4-3, Sunday, Aug. 7 to advance to the Region 3C Championship.

The Mallards will face St. Patrick, a 6-0 opening round winner over Veseli Friday and a 5-0 shutout of Faribault Monday, Aug. 8. Montgomery and St. Patrick will play Sunday, Aug. 14 at 1 p.m. at St. Patrick.

In the other first round games, Faribault defeated St. Benedict, 13-11, and Union Hill shutout New Prague, 10-0. Veseli knocked St. Benedict out of the tourney with a 10-0 win Monday, Aug. 8. Webster eliminated New Prague with a 3-0 win Sunday, Aug 7.

Union Hill will host Veseli at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 10. Faribault will host Webster at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 10. The winners of these two games will automatically advance to State. They will meet for the Class C State seeding purposes Saturday, Aug. 13 at 2 p.m. with a site to be determined.

St. Patrick 6, Veseli 0 St. Patrick received seven solid innings from Collin Denk in their win over Veseli. He struck out eight and allowed four hits. Zach Seurer pitched the final two innings and did not allow a hit and struck out four. Ryan Friedges was 2-for-4 with a three-run homer. Ben Taxdahl added three hits and Kal Brohmer and Kyle Rhodus each had a pair of hits. Eddie Sirek, Nathan Simon, Nick Geis, and Bryce Simon had the hits for the Warriors.

St. Patrick 5, Faribault 0 Luke Tupy and Trevor Divinski combined on a two-hitter, striking out 17 Faribault hitters. Tupy struck out 13 batters in five innings and Divinski four in four innings. Brohmer and Matt Ambroz each had two RBI hits. Taxdahl scored three runs. Nate Post and Blake Langerud had the hits for Faribault.

Montgomery 4, Webster 1 Johnny Krocak pitched a complete game for Montgomery in their win over Webster. He allowed one run on seven hits, struck out eight, and did not walk a batter. Pat Lloyd, Tom Flicek, and Dawson Pint each had two hits. Krocak knocked in two runs with a double and Ryan Iverson and Flicek also added doubles. William Wareham and Peter Grassl had two hits each for the Sox.

Montgomery 4, Union Hill 3 Montgomery scored two runs in the bottom of the ninth to pull out their win over Union Hill. Pint, Flicek, and Krocak each collected two hits and an RBI for the Mallards. Ted Christian started and went 5 1/3 innings, allowing two runs on two hits. Derek Christenson recorded the win, pitching the final 3 2/3 innings, allowing one run on four hits. Nate Lee finished with two hits, a double, and an RBI for Union Hill. Joe Becker was tagged with the loss, allowing two earned runs in 1 2/3 innings.

Union Hill 10, New Prague 0 The Bulldogs opened playoff action with a 10-0 seven inning win over New Prague. Conrad Masberg pitched a complete game, allowing three hits and two walks while striking out nine. Brady O’Neill was 3-for4 with three runs scored and an RBI. Joe Becker and Masberg each added two hits. Becker and Nathan Berg each knocked in three runs. Ben Buthe, Bennett Isley, and Aiden Dorzinski had the three Oriole hits.

Veseli 10, St. Benedict 0 Nathan Picka pitched a complete game one-hitter for Veseli in their win over St. Benedict Monday night. He struck out seven and walked one and his teammates aided his effort by smacking 15 hits. Eddie Sirek was 4-for-5, Matt Friedges was 3-for-4 with a home run and a double, and Bryce Simon was 2-for-4 with two runs scored. Andrew Huss had the lone hit for the Saints.

The Region Champion will receive a bye in the first round of their Class C State Tourney, which starts August 19-21 in Faribault, Dundas, and Miesville. The State Bracket will be revealed Sunday, night, August 14th.
